Chant the name of Lord...

In the age of Kali yuga, chanting the name of the Lord is the easiest way to reach The Supreme. The Lord’s name- be it Krishna, Jesus or Allah – has got its own potency and has the power of delivering one even from the worst possible situations. In this regard, a story can be cited from the sixth canto of Srimad Bhagavatam.
In a village, there lived a brahmana by name Ajamila. He was born in a very pious family and was brought up according to vedic regulations. He was married to a beautiful girl and was leading a very happy life. One day he happened to meet a prostitute and he started to have an illegal affair with her. He forgot his regulations; left his wife and started to lead a very sinful life with the prostitute. He begot many children through that woman. He named his youngest son Narayana and was very dear to him. His son’s cute activities delighted him and gradually he becamed very much attached towards him.
Time was rolling away and Ajamila wasted his entire life engaging in all kinds of sinful activities. Due to old age, he became very ill and was bedridden. At the moment of death, he saw three persons with deformed and twisted faces coming towards him. They had a noose in their hands. Ajamila at once understood that they were Yamadutas(Soldiers of Yamaraja) and that they were going to take him to Yamaraja for punishment. So he got frightened and called out his son by his name ‘Narayana’.
On hearing the holy name of Vishnu from the mouth of the dying Ajamila, Vishnudutas(Soldiers of Lord Vishnu) arrived at once. They stopped Yamadutas from taking Ajamila with them. Vishnudutas argued that eventhough Ajamila didn’t mean to call Lord Narayana Himself, he has called out the name ‘Narayana’ in an inoffensive way. By virtue of this he at once became free from all his sins and is now eligible to reach Vaikuntha. Saying so, they took him to Vaikuntha, the eternal abode of Lord Narayana. Thus chanting the name of the Lord at the time of death saved Ajamila from the terrible punishment of Yamaraja.
Even Lord Hanuman did incredible deeds during the period of Ramayana just by chanting the name of ‘Lord Ram’. When Sita Devi asked Hanuman how long he wanted to be on earth, he replied that he wanted to live on earth as long as he hears chanting the name of the Lord. Lord Ram gave him the boon and that is why Lord Hanuman is called Chiranjeevi(meaning: infinte or long-lived).
“Simply by chanting one holy name of Hari, a sinful man can counteract the reactions to more sins than he is able to commit:)” – Brihad Vishnu Purana
“As when all small animals flee in fear when a lion roars, similarly all one’s sinful reactions leave when a person chants the Lord’s holy names while in a helpless condition or even if he has no desire to do so” – Garuda Purana
“The path of liberation is guaranteed when a person once chants the holy name of Hari” – Skanda Purana
So my dear friend, it does not matter what religion you follow. Just chant the name of The Lord of your religion and benefit from it. May the good God give us an unalloyed devotion towards Him!
Jai Sri RadhaKrishna!
